Grand Opening Celebration
"Shopper NewsNOW Article"
Several hundred volunteers, and supporters of UCHS gathered to tour the new buildings, see a dog training presentation, gather information about the humane treatment of animals, enjoy hot dogs & hamburgers and entertainment by the band "Mood". Our Executive Director,Tammy Rouse, choked back tears when the long-awaited moment came, time to open the Humane Society’s new building. The moment was a first for UCHS, the first actual building, first real offices , for an agency that got its start 12 years ago in a barn, an abondoned house and make-do outdoor kennels. Rouse’s weren’t the only tears at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “You know how hard we’ve worked and dreamed for this,” said Rouse. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart. “I’m just … thank you. That’s all I can say.” The new center has a reception area with puppy and kitten viewing rooms, exam rooms, quarantine rooms and climate-controlled indoor-outdoor kennels. The back end of the property is fenced for greater animal security. It’s just been an incredible ride we’ve been on,” said building project manager, John Leonard. John encouraged everyone to stop by and visit the new facility.
